Kentucky Department of Workforce Development

The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) connects Kentuckians to employment, workforce information, education, and training. The agencies of the department, the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Office of Employer and Apprenticeship Services work together to provide services through the Kentucky Career Center. Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board

The Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board serves as an advisory board to the Governor on workforce training and development issues. They are charged with creating a statewide vision for workforce development and adopt a plan to move Kentucky forward through workforce training and development.

Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives

The Department for Libraries and Archives dates its origin to 1825 when the Kentucky State Library was established by the Kentucky General Assembly to serve state government in Frankfort. KDLA is one of 10 state agencies in the United States that combine library, archival, and public records programs.

Kentucky Department of Education

The Kentucky Department of Education provides services and resources to Kentucky's public school system, grades preschool through 12. The department's responsibilities include data reporting, assistance to local school districts, assessment and accountability for school improvement, and implementation of state and federal education legislation.

The Kentucky Commission on ​Proprietary Education is charged with licensing and regulating all proprietary schools, doing business in Kentucky, other than those that offer a four-year bachelor’s degree. In addition, it administers the Student Protection Fund which reimburses eligible students in the event a school closes, loses its accreditation or discontinues a program. The work of the commission is funded entirely through fees paid by licensed institutions.

Kentucky Educational Television

Kentucky Educational Television’s mission is education. As a leader in lifelong learning, KET is in every Kentucky community providing in-school and at-home educational programs for children and adults, as well as professional development seminars for educators and training programs for child care providers. As Kentucky’s only statewide public media resource, KET serves the Commonwealth via digital and high-definition broadcast technology, producing and presenting programming unique to Kentucky. Kentucky Center for School Safety

The Kentucky Center for School Safety (KCSS) was established by the General Assembly in 1998 to serve as a single source for information regarding all facets of school safety. KCSS supports the idea that school culture improves when a school-wide prevention plan consistently addresses the needs of all students to encourage a safe and healthy learning environment.

Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

The Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is a leading resource for the approximately 700,000 Kentuckians who are affected by hearing loss. The KCDHH is an advocate for deaf and hard of hearing persons on legislative issues, as well as a consultant to the governor, general assembly and various state and local governmental agencies concerning policies and programs that pertain to people with hearing loss.

Governor’s Scholars Program

The Governor's Scholars Program strives to enhance Kentucky's next generation of civic and economic leaders. Established in 1983, the program provides academic and personal growth through the balance of a strong liberal arts program with a full co-curricular and residential life experience. Students must complete an application and compete with others from across the state. Those selected attend the program free of charge.

At GSE student teams develop business models for products ranging from apps to soci
al enterprises. Through a unique approach based on lean startup methods, we awaken the entrepreneurial spirit in high school students. Entrepreneurial attitude and problem-solving abilities matter to all employers.
